Studio Work

I have a studio in a brand new hub (built 2022) to carry out a range of conservation treatments. It is equipped with up to date specialist equipment and materials and is fully insured.

As a qualified conservator I can carry out a range of paper conservation treatments, alongside book conservation, photographic conservation, preventive conservation (which can include boxing and housing, and surveying/assessing collections) and mounting and framing.

Conservation work will only be undertaken after full discussion with the client. Conservation time and costs will be estimated, alongside estimated completion dates. This is always subject to change, dependent on the item.

Every item is different and unique, and so the cost of conserving items can only be estimated through seeing the item and on discussion with the client.

Also, it is sometimes on recommendation of the conservator that treatments are either unnecessary or too risky to undertake, so some condition assessments and treatment proposals can result in the recommendation of ‘doing nothing’.

All items will receive before and after photography and a condition report that covers the item’s condition prior to conservation, describe any treatments undertaken and a description of the condition of the item after conservation.

It is the responsibility of the client to ensure their items are fully insured.

The studio is easily accessible via motorway, and is about a 20-30 minute walk from Sittingbourne train station. There is onsite parking available.

The hub itself is equipped with 24/7 CCTV and each studio plus the onsite cafe and gallery is regularly staffed, plus the studio has its own security alarm.
